Research regarding the historic slave revolt included interviews and documents garnered from Whitney Plantation, Destrehan Plantation, 1811 Kid Ory Historic House, recent reenactment by Dread Scott and Antenna, in addition to Violent Visions by Daniel Rasmussen (his book American Uprising is also available at Whitney Plantation or bookstores), documents from the Destrehan Trial, St. Charles Parish, St. Charles Parish Museum and Historical Association, Louisiana Digital Library Archives, Library of Congress, and the St. Charles Herald Guide, among other accounts of the 1811 Slave Revolt for background and details.
